Other than that, no problems with anything. The tripod is okay, nothing special - it gets the job done. The bag is decent as well containing enough room for an extra lens, extra battery, the camera itself; it also has many zippered compartments. Overall it's a great packaged deal for the price.

It seemed okay but then I saw it begin to slip and was horrified that such an expensive product had such an insecure strap. THEN I read the instructions and followed the Diagram (pg.17 in D-90 User Manual). They were simple--about 3 minutes per side. Now you couldn't make the strap slip without breaking off the camera mounts!! Pays to follow the instructions. Very Safe now.

(More customer reviews)I got the deluxe SLR bag as part of a kit for my new D3100 camera. It does a pretty good job of holding the 3 lenses, filters, battery charger and extra battery etc. The padding did a good job of protecting the camera but I noticed that when I picked up the bag by the top handle, not the long strap, the inside of the bag was open at either end and you could see the camera through the ends. I am very leery of a case that is poorly sealed against dust and dirt and I tend to carry the bag by the top handle when I get in a situation where I want to keep the bag close and there is more activity ( and more chance of dust). It is comfortable to carry but I am shopping for a bag that can be completely closed.

(More customer reviews)I don't write many reviews, but feel compelled to do so in this case because I found a number of the other reviews either ambiguous or contradictory. I just couldn't find a clear and simple description of EXACTLY what this case can comfortably hold, and ended up waiting far longer than I needed to before I felt comfortable enough to order this case. I really wish that I hadn't waited, because it turns out that this is a nice case that holds a great deal. Hopefully this review will help others who want a clear understanding of the capacity of the case.
In simple terms, the main compartment of this case easily and comfortably holds: A Nikon D3000 or D5000 with the 18-55mm lens attached, a 55-200mm lens, and the battery charger and AC cord. All you need to do is remove and reconfigure the partitions so that you use two of the partitions to create three sections within the main compartment. Simple as that. If you don't want to store your camera with the lens attached, no problem, that works as well, and will even create a touch more free space within the main compartment.
The front zippered pocket can store the camera's shoulder strap, the video cable, the USB cable, and several SD cards. It might hold a little more, but that's all that I have in there. There are also two small side pockets that can hold extra SD cards or other small, fairly flat items of your choosing. For those that really want to carry the manual around, there is room for it to rest on top of the main compartment. The top of the case will easily fold over it and buckle closed with no problem.
Hopefully that helps. No guesswork, no speculation. Just a factual report of what this case comfortably holds. In short, I think that this is a great case for the Nikon D3000 or D5000. It's well constructed and comfortable to carry, and although I haven't viewed it yet, the DVD seems to be a valuable bonus.

(More customer reviews)I was preparing for a trip and wanted to combine my laptop and my D70 in a single bag. I had just ordered a LowePro computrekker AW when I saw this Nikon bag.
I figured I would like to have a genuine Nikon bag for all my Nikon gear so I ordered this bag figuring I could return the LowePro.
Although the bag is well constructed, lighter and looks great I wasn't impressed at all with the accomodations for my D70. The camera storage is designed for the body with a small lens, maybe the 18 - 70 that came with the kit. With the 18 - 200 mounted the camera just didn't fit in the area provisioned for the camera.
The rest of the bag seemed clumsy to access and there wasn't a lot of storage for accessories.
In my opinion, the LowePro Computrekker AW is a far superior bag. Although it's a little larger it's worth it's weight in gold. I was disappointed with the functionality of this Nikon bag.

(More customer reviews)Per the above post, I called Nikon on this and they stated that the warranty will still apply if the camera is under Nikon USA warranty coverage (1 year).Go to NikonUSA.com get the support phone # and call them(they are available 24/7).Even if you are not sure if the camera is a Nikon USA model (Nikon WILL NOT TOUCH - EVEN IF YOU PAY THE COST OF REPAIR- any equipment that is not Nikon USA. e.g. Grey Market A.K.A -they did not receive it in their warehouse -Nikon USA- and they do not get a cut/profit from it- NOT BASHING THEM AT ALL...just remember that you are paying for additional after sale service/support when purchasing Nikon USA equipment). They are a great bunch of people and will be happy to answer any questions you may have...just make sure that if you decide to order some product catalogs/literature you keep the limit of catalogs ordered to 3 or less :) For some reason Nikon gets cranky when you request more than three...
This extended warranty only covers repair to be performed at TWO listed Nikon repair facilities (one in NY the other in CA). I have not sent anything in to Nikon to get repaired in years, however I can say that I have sent items to be serviced to these locations in the past and they are excellent. I wish I could say the same from other "Authorized Nikon Repair" facilities. The owner must cover the cost of shipping to the facility (insurance recommended!) and Nikon will cover the cost of shipping the unit back to you.
Keep in mind that this warranty ONLY APPLIES to the original camera purchaser and IT IS NOT TRANSFERABLE!So if you sell the camera the warranty is null and void. THIS IS NOTHING NEW and has been the case with Nikon (and other manufacturers) for as long as I can remember, this also applies to all the Nikon cameras and lenses during the first year of Nikon USA warranty and any additional ESC coverage that was included or purchased separate.
I watched the DVD and for me it has no value, HOWEVER it provides a lot of information for someone that is not familiar with some/all of the equipment (flash, camera options, memory cards, etc.) and how to use them.
You might ask yourself, WHY would Nikon include this "beginner" DVD with a warranty that is tailored for an "advanced" user/camera...I was at a local camera store not long ago and this lady walked in with an SLR camera (film) and a broken lens. She wanted the lens fixed and was informed that the [...] that it would cost to fix the lens would surpass the current cost (used) of the lens. She then asked about some lenses that would work with her camera...none available! To make the long story, shorter...(the long end would explain -based on her questions and conversation- that this person had no clue about photography -camera functions- and is a straight..turn ON... point and shoot person)she was extremely satisfied with the "Auto" settings and the end results on a digital camera she tried in the store, she walked out the door (after paying) with a Nikon D300 and 18-200 VR lens.
I have no use for the bag and truthfully I hate using bags that display what is inside...this yells to everyone out there NIKON CAMERA INSIDE. All that personal preference aside, I did purchase one like this (Nikon branded same style and color) for a family members camera-that is what they wanted as a Christmas gift- and it cost me [...] so the cost of the warranty is MINIMAL if you can use the camera bag and DVD[...].The bag is well made and can take some abuse, the other bag is three years old and still holding up well.

The bag is nice, with adjustable dividers and a lot of pockets, so it could double as a purse and camera bag while traveling. I am, however, in the market for a bigger bag that would fit everything easier. It is a pretty tight squeeze with the camera, two lenses, and the accessories from the kit. I had to remove most of the dividers and put one lens in with the camera, so I'm not thrilled about that.
The accessories that come with the camera are plentiful and handy, and I think that this was a good price for what you get.

I wanted something that had enough pockets, dividers, etc to carry my small dslr and a few lenses and batteries with room for some cleaning supplies, etc. Below is a list of what I fit into this bag and it's pretty full. The bag is nice looking, the straps and connectors are sturdy and stay closed. The bag has soft internal dividers with velcro that you can adjust to fit your equipment. There's a netted zip pocket in the lid that you can see the contents of and a front zip pocket that has pockets for pens, paper, etc. The strap is fairly thick and the shoulder pad is soft and wide. The metal Nikon badge on the front looks nice and hasn't tarnished. The padding of the bag is suitable for a bit of knocking around without worry of damaging the contents. Great bag!

The bag I received actually exceeded my expectations. Good, solid design, high quality workmanship. Many compartments with adjustable separators. I carry camera with lens attached, 2 extra lenses, filter sets, cleaning set, charger, card reader and every small thing I could think of on my trips.
The tripod is also useable quality but not as good as the bag.
Overall - great purchase for under $40, and it sports "Nikon" brand label too!

(More customer reviews)Before purchasing this I looked at it in a local store. Bag was just like the photo shown here on Amazon. Price at the local store was $99. So, I bought one from Amazon for $60. Was excited, even with the free Super Saver shipping I got it 2 days later! Then I opened the box, and found the bag was not as shown, or as I saw it in the local store. The bag is black with a yellow trim piece. It is a square bag with SMALL side pockets. Useless. Don't know if they are shipping an old version or a newer version, but its not what's shown and not what's in stores. I returned mine.
UPDATED: The photo now shown is the correct photo of what they send you. Still confused why this kit in the stores (with same model number) has a bigger and nicer bag. Never-the-less, the bag shown here is too small and useless for the D40 with any accessories or additional lenses.

(More customer reviews)I passed by Bestbuy earlier the day I bought this to get a feel as to what size the bag really is. The bag is not too big but also not too small. I have a D40x with two lenses, the stock 18-55mm Nikkor as well as a 55-200 Nikkor. I also have a few filters, a small telephoto lens and a wide photo lens and although the bag is not too big, it fits all these easily and snugly! It really depends on what you need and want. It can also fit the cleaning pen along with any extra batteries in it's inside and front pouches. The charger fits in the side pockets ( if you take the cord and put it in the other pocket). I like this bag as it really fits my needs. It is well made and the yellow stripe and the Nikon emblem add a nice touch. Now be aware that if u really want to fit any thing other in this bag than what I described above it might be difficult. I know some would like to fit their camcorder too and this would not be a bag for them. So I give this bag 5/5 because it really fits my needs. My advice is this, if u are not sure about the size and how it looks, drop by the near Bestbuy and check it out, They have it as a part of a kit (including the same DVD and an extra battery) and retails for 99$. As for the DVD it is a good starter DVD for people who never used an SLR before but for me it was just too basic so I gave it to my friend.

DVD: For the beginner of DSLR, the DVD can be helpful, but you can also get the similar information from internet. If you are already into this world, and want to get advanced knowledge, this DVD would not be much helpful.
Camera case: This is really a high quality bag (a little heavier than you thought). Compared to the previous starter kit, this bag has great improvement in terms of both build quality and space. It appears bigger for holding d3100 with kit lens and 50-200mm zoom lens. This is expected as it is also designed for holding d7000. So this bag is for one camera with two lens. There is also large space on the front pack for holding accessories.
